Charles Sturt University Library explored a series of process improvements during the pandemic, including ways to streamline their ebook ordering workflow and reduce manual steps. As part of this process, the library decided to adopt Rialto, a modern academic books marketplace fully integrated with Alma, library management system.
“We saw there were great benefits in having the integration with Alma. That all-in-one, one-stop shop integration with Alma really simplified the process. It made it easier for staff to find the correct titles, at the right price, with the best user access.”
Andrew Press, Manager, Information Resources at Charles Sturt University
Once the library went live with Rialto, CSU staff noticed benefits at every stage of their ebook acquisitions workflow – from searching and ordering titles alongside their real-time holdings, to automatic purchase order creation in Alma, to notifying users when a title is available—all without manual intervention from the library.
“Rialto has really streamlined things for us. Now we can automatically see whether we hold the book or not, so that’s saving time now that we no longer have to search and double check our holdings.”
Jacqui Evans, Team Manager for Content Acquisitions
