Alfredo sauce facts & tips

The original Italian recipe, created by Alfredo di Lelio in Rome, was simply a combination of butter and Parmesan cheese, added to pasta. Cream was added in American adaptations of the recipe to stabilize the sauce and make it creamier.

Once opened, refrigerate alfredo sauce and use within three to five days. For unopened, store in a cool, dry pantry.
